Policies & Procedures
Academic Expectations
Students should expect regular homework and are responsible for keeping track of their assignments in an assignment notebook. If a student is absent, he or she is responsible to find out what was taught and to complete any any assigned work. Parents can support their child in the following ways:
-
Provide a quiet place to study with all the necessary materials.
-
Ask your child what he or she is learning and encourage good effort.
-
Check if homework is complete, but do not do assignments for your child.
If a student has 3 missing or incomplete assignments, he or she will need to come in for additional tutoring outside of class time to catch up.
Behavioral Expectations
Respectfully Participate in a Positive Learning Environment.
1. Use positive, polite speech and actions with students and teachers.
2. Do your best and encourage others to do the same: do not distract from the learning process, no cell phones.
3. Participate in class discussions and activities: no side conversations or refusing to follow directions.
4. Bring proper materials to class, keep track of assignments, and hand in work completed on time.
Students who do not abide by the academic and behavioral expectations or parents who do not support them will be asked to discontinue attendance.
Electronics
Children's cell phones should be kept on silent and out of sight at all times while in class so they will not be a distraction; they may only be used for parent contact. Computer use is based on curriculum needs only, not for games. Leave electronic games at home; during free time students go outside to get fresh air or play active games inside. Any electronics in sight not being used for educational purposes will be taken by the teacher and returned at the end of class.
